Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan, three countries in Central Asia, were facing massive power cuts on Tuesday, January 25, AFP correspondents noted.

Much of Almaty, Kazakhstan's economic capital, was without power, as were Uzbekistan's capital Tashkent and Kyrgyzstan's Bishkek.
A spokesman for the Kyrgyz Ministry of Energy told AFP that the cuts were due to "
an accident affecting the regional energy network
".
