According to the Ministry of Education, the test procedure at primary and special schools in North Rhine-Westphalia will be changed.

After the federal and state governments decided to prioritize the PCR tests due to the sharp increase in corona numbers, the PCR lollipop test procedure at the primary and special schools in NRW had to be adapted at short notice, the Ministry of Education in Düsseldorf announced on request .

Düsseldorf – School Minister Yvonne Gebauer (FDP) will bring a proposal to the cabinet meeting this Tuesday that will continue to ensure school and teaching operations with regular tests, it said.

More than 80 percent of the pool tests are currently negative.

These students can attend classes as usual the following day anyway.

The participation of students whose pool test is positive should be secured by antigen self-tests.

Due to the rapidly increasing numbers, the reference samples given to primary and special schools together with the pool tests can no longer be evaluated in the laboratories and positive pools cannot be dissolved.

After the federal and state consultations, the laboratories informed the schools and parents.

The "WAZ" had also reported online that there were problems in many places with the evaluation of retained samples.

Parents may now be asked to check their children individually for an infection at home with a rapid antigen test after a positive pool test.

If the result was negative the next day, they could then send them to school, the “WAZ” reported on Tuesday before the Ministry of Education announced.
