Because of the corona, people are more at home.

Do you use the time for love?

A look at the birth statistics for 2021 provides information.

Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen

– In the big city there was a birth record in 2021: 24,089 Munich children were born, more than ever before.

And what about the couples in the Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen district?

Did they have more time for love due to the corona?

Our newspaper asked around.

The Wolfratshausen district clinic registered exactly 616 births for the third year in a row.

"Coincidence", as spokesman Stefan Berger says.

There can therefore be no question of an extraordinary baby boom.

However, together with the main office at the Starnberg Clinic, obstetrics counted 3,722 births and thus reached 3rd place in Bavaria and 7th place nationwide, reports Berger.

Interesting: When the discussion about the future of the district clinic came up, there was a "brief but noticeable slump," says Berger.

"The insecurity of the patients was also transferred to our obstetrics branch and at times prompted some women to give birth in another clinic," explains the spokesman for the Starnberg clinics.

After the continued existence of the district clinic was clarified, things calmed down quickly.

Under the direction of Dr.

Dörte Lüdders are now looking after nine midwives for expectant mothers.

Since there were eight before, Berger also speaks of “newcomers” here – with a wink.

168 women from Wolfratshausen had offspring in 2021

Children who see the light of day in the district clinic are registered at the Wolfratshausen registry office, as well as home births.

In 2021, the registry office registered 619 births, hardly more than in the previous year.

A fraction of this goes back to citizens of the city.

"168 women from Wolfratshauser gave birth," says Michael Nussbaumer from the registry office.

Mothers in Geretsried gave birth to a good 50 more babies. The largest city in the district reports 221 births. "July was the month with the highest number of births at 25," reports spokesman Thomas Loibl. There were a total of seven home births in Geretsried – exactly as many as in the previous year. A similar picture emerges in the registry office district. In Dietramszell, Münsing and Königsdorf there were about as many on-site deliveries as in previous years. But Icking stands out: the Geretsried registry office registered six births there for 2021. In 2020 there was only one.

Only the statistics from the residents' registration office in Bad Tölz leave room for lockdown speculation.

There were 94 little tölzers and 83 little tölzerinnen in 2021. With 177 births, the year 2021 tops its predecessor.

In 2020, 153 tölzerinnen had given birth to a child.

The place of birth for ten girls and boys is Bad Tölz, meaning they were home births.

City hall spokeswoman Birte Otterbach cannot break down the on-site births individually for data protection reasons.

There were a total of seven births in the administrative community of Benediktbeuern, Wackersberg and Bad Heilbrunn.

Last year there were ten home births in the registry office district, i.e. including Bad Tölz.
