Child care, familiar and flexible: This is what the municipality and district office in Warngau want to offer in a new large day care center.

Childminders are needed for this.

Warngau

- A place where children, from babies to schoolchildren, are in good hands, with a childminder, almost like in a family: This is what the municipality and the district office in Warngau are planning. Now the plans are taking on more concrete forms: A location is in sight, and tomorrow, Wednesday, there will be an information evening for those interested who could imagine looking after children soon: as a childminder in a so-called large day care. Not only qualified childcare workers are eligible for this, but also career changers.

The correct name is somewhat misleading. A "large day care" is actually supposed to be the exact opposite of their first impression: care in a family environment instead of on a large scale, with smaller groups, more flexible opening times and other children in different age groups. The large day care got its name from the fact that the childminders do not offer the care on their own, but share premises with other childminders - in the large day care. There is already a facility of this kind in Holzkirchen, the “Servus Bambini” on Tegernseer Straße.

The municipality of Warngau has also had such an offer in mind for a long time, because a large day care can score with various advantages.

Parents can be sure that they will not suddenly find themselves without care one morning because the caregiver is ill.

Childminders can fall back on suitable rooms outside their own private sphere.

Both can handle the care times more flexibly than in public day-care centers with rigid opening hours, which are difficult to reconcile with many job profiles.

The Mayor of Warngau, Klaus Thurnhuber (FWG), has repeatedly come across examples of this in recent years, such as the nurse working in shifts.

Large-scale day care could therefore usefully supplement the spectrum of care offers in the municipality.

A location has been found

The former teacher's house next to the gymnasium, which is currently empty and owned by the municipality, is a good location: From Thurnhuber's point of view, it would be ideal, nestled between the daycare center at Kapellenfeld and the elementary school.

How exactly a large day care should be organized in Warngau has not yet been fixed, explained third mayor Andrea Anderssohn (Greens) in the municipal council when she presented the project there for the municipality.

But the key data is there: Up to three childminders look after a maximum of ten children at the same time (with up to 16 childcare relationships), from 0 to 14 years.

The remuneration comes from the youth welfare office at the district office in Miesbach, whereby the parents conclude the care contract directly with one of the carers.

The childminders are either self-employed or employed by an appropriate body.

The municipality and district office want to clarify this together with the childminders.

When asked by Johann Gillhuber (Draxlhamer Liste), who expressed doubts about the need for more childcare places in view of the forthcoming expansion of the daycare center at Kapellenfeld, Anderssohn and Thurnhuber explained that only minor conversions to the teacher's house would be necessary - in any case significantly less than with one classic day-care center: "No other childcare for the community is as inexpensive," emphasized Thurnhuber, "and we constantly need more places."

Childminders wanted: information evening on Wednesday

The family care option stands and falls with the childminders: "We are looking for people who dare," explained Anderssohn.

Not only qualified childcare workers such as educators or nannies are eligible for this, but also career changers who are willing to gain professional qualifications with a 160-hour course.

At the online information evening, interested parties can find out exactly how interested parties can imagine the model and how large-scale day care is organized.

The information evening for potential childminders begins on Wednesday, January 26, 2022 at 7 p.m.

It will take place as an online meeting via Zoom.

You will receive the access data when registering by e-mail (information on the community website).
