Today, countries in Central Asia witnessed a power outage due to an accident in the power system that connects them.
According to news agencies, electricity was cut off in Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan, as the operator of the Electricity Networks Department in Kazakhstan announced that the accidents that occurred in the electricity supply system were the result of overloading of transit plans in Kazakhstan.
In a statement, the operator indicated that “due to a major imbalance in the energy system in Central Asia, specifically Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan, there was a surge in energy transit and as a result, an emergency shutdown of transit occurred, which included disconnecting the current from a large portion of consumers in the southern part of Kazakhstan.”
The power was also cut off in the Kyrgyz capital, Bishkek, which led to the stoppage of traffic lights and water cuts due to power outages in all its districts.
In turn, the Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan announced a power outage in a large number of regions of the country, noting that the cause of the outage was being investigated.
