Lenggries – The two high-flyers on the Lenggries World Cup slope were recently Romy Ertl (SC Lenggries) and Quirin Lechner (SV Wackersberg-Arzbach).

While the daughter of ex-ski ace Martina Ertl set the best time of the day in three of a total of four giant slalom runs, the fast boy from the neighboring village even managed this feat in all four runs.

"It almost couldn't be better," beamed Karl Gerg, chairman of the organizing Lenggrieser ski club, when racing for the winter 2021/22 on the World Cup slope was recently started with two giant slaloms as part of the Sparkasse Cup series: In glorious weather, Slight plus degrees and a freshly snowed, hard but non-slip slope, the two races each took place in two runs.

You could really tell that the young ski racers, in the U16 and U14 age groups, really enjoyed the competition when, after endless weeks of training, they were finally able to fight against the clock and the competition again.

"Always just training without competitions, that's not fun in the long run.

And the people of Lenggries organized these two races in their usual sovereign form,” emphasized Paul Chini, Chairman of the Oberland Ski Association.

Even if the well-groomed piste offered good conditions for the last of the almost 100 participants, the failure rate for the boys in the second round was relatively high.

“The run was a bit quicker and the better ones in particular went in full throttle.

If the outside ski was not properly loaded, a small hit was enough and the binding broke,” explained Gerg.

Romy Ertl missed victory in the U16s by just nine hundredths of a second;

which then went to Antonia Gerner (SC Bad Tölz), who had finished second the day before.

Gina Oberhuber (SC Reichersbeuern) completed the podium in third place.

calm line

However, there was no way past Quirin Lechner among the fast boys.

It is striking that the little ski racer used his technical skills and his calm line to get the most out of his top time.

In contrast to the direct competition, which relied primarily on power and crowbar.

Vincent Erlacher (SC Rottach-Egern), who took second place on the first day and third place on the second, was also successful.

Here Alexander Zitzmann took second place on Sunday.

On Saturday he was already eliminated in the second run in the upper, steep part of the World Cup slope.

In the U14s, Max Holzinger (SC Rottach-Egern) dominated on both days, while his clubmate Marinus Schurig took third place twice.

Second place went to Andreas Aumann (SC Kreuth) on the first day and to Leonhard Wustmann (SC Bad Tölz) on the second day.

He too had been eliminated in the second race the day before.

The younger girls couldn't stand double winner Carla Oberhuber (SC Reichersbeuern).

Julia Machl (SC Ostin) was able to take second place here.

Anna-Maria Grünwalder came in third, followed a day later by Amelie Zemann, both (SC Bad Tölz).
