According to the AFCD, as of 5:00 p.m., the public had handed over a total of 104 hamsters to the AFCD for abandonment, and 98 hamsters had been humanely destroyed, and 4 hamsters died of natural causes.

However, the department pointed out that 102 abandoned hamsters have been sampled and tested, and only one hamster was found to have tested positive for the virus earlier.
