Pflugdorf – The new motorcycle world championship season begins on March 6th with the “Night race” in the desert state of Qatar.

With 21 races, it will be the longest in the history of these title fights.

For Marcel Schrötter, the 28-year-old professional from Pflugdorf, this means: preparing well.

After all, he wants to do better in 2022 than last year when he finished 10th overall in the Moto2 class after many difficulties and without even a single podium.

After his "winter break at home" with lots of ski tours and fitness training with personal coach George in the "New Wave" in Landsberg, Germany's currently best motorcycle pilot has now started the "real" season preparation in the south.

Schrötter first took part in the week-long training camp near Barcelona (Spain) under the direction of coach Aleix Santacreu – with five other riders such as American Superbike ace Gerrett Gerloff and Italian Moto3 rider Riccardo Rossi.

"We sat on the bike every day - on the motocross machine, on the mini bike or on the mountain bike," says the Pflugdorfer in an interview with the KREISBOTEN.

And to relax, there was also a round of golf: "My new little hobby," reveals Schrötter.

We went to Spain via Monaco (“super nice. But the espresso cost eight euros.”) by car to Italy.

Near Pavia in Lombardy there are a number of motocross tracks being practiced at this week.

After all: "I already feel relatively fit," recognized the number 23.

The rest of the program: Tests with the team in the wind tunnel are scheduled for February 2nd, then there's a weekend at home before the first "real" tests on the race track in Jerez (Spain) follow on February 7th.
