The Fürth Spring Festival has already been cancelled.
But there should be an alternative for showmen.

The spring festival planned for March has been canceled – a replacement is to take place at the end of May.
This causes trouble for some showmen.
Fürth – For the third time in a row, the Spring Festival in Fürth* will be canceled in March 2022.

With an assignment in May, the city is offering the showmen at least some financial compensation, but outsiders should not be allowed to take part.
Apparently there is no room for the medieval market either.

Fürth: Families are the focus
With large open spaces, a safety and hygiene concept and a fence around the site, the festival is to take place from May 7th to 15th on the small and large freedom.

The concept is to be implemented together with the Southern German Showmen's Association and the State Association of Market Merchants and Showmen.
They promoted this proposal in the municipal committee for church consecration, markets and similar events.
Fürth: Medieval market operator feels "forced out"
The medieval market, which takes place at the same time as the Christmas market on the Freiheit, did not take place in 2021 either.
For their part, the Greens had already applied for a replacement event weeks before the committee date, which should “preferably take place as a supplement to the spring festival on the small freedom”.

According to the news portal, the organizer of the medieval market, Marc Vogel, said in an interview with the
Franconian News that
they were there
"Pushed out" and it feels like the showmen have hijacked their idea.
"As far as elbows are concerned, my colleagues are quite good," regrets Vogel.
Fürth: Medieval market stall is competition
According to the committee, the additional market is a kind of competition in the sale of food and drinks.
"If the others don't see the synergy, but the competition, that's stupid in my opinion," defends Vogel, who was not present at the meeting.
As Eduard Wentzl, district head of the regional association of market traders and showmen, explains, only two Fürth businesses are represented at the medieval Christmas market.
In his opinion, it would be better to support the local showmen.
According to Green City Councilor Felix Geismann, what the associations are saying is absolutely correct.
However, the exclusion of the medieval market is lacking in solidarity.
In his opinion, both festivals could be combined in May.
Fürth: Mayor has concerns
Mayor Markus Braun (SPD), on the other hand, has concerns about whether the concept will work at all in the summer.

He had already sought a conversation with Vogel and offered Hallplatz as a replacement location.
Vogel refused, however, because the area was "difficult to design" - partly because of the traffic.
The organizer regrets that there is no space on the liberty for the 25 stands in May.
The committee decided unanimously to cancel the Spring Festival.
Provided that Corona allows this, there will be a replacement in May.
