The Federal Supreme Court of Iraq ruled on the constitutionality of the session to elect the Speaker and his two deputies, deciding to cancel the decision to suspend the work of the Presidency of Parliament.
According to the Iraqi News Agency, "conscious", the Federal Court decided today to reject the challenge to the constitutionality of the first session of Parliament, noting that MP Khaled Al-Daraji presiding over the first parliament session does not contradict the provisions of the constitution.
The Federal Court also annulled the state decision to suspend the work of the elected Presidium of Parliament in the first session of Parliament held earlier.
Muhammad al-Halbousi had recently settled the presidency of the Iraqi parliament in his favour, after a competition with Mahmoud al-Mashhadani, the oldest member of parliament, where al-Halbousi received 200 votes and al-Mashhadani received 14 votes, and the number of invalid papers reached 14 votes.
