Today, the Russian army began exercises in the southern region with the aim of assessing its combat readiness, amid escalating tension with Western countries.
And the Russia Today website quoted the director of the press office of the Southern Military District, Vadim Astafyev, as saying in a statement, “Units of the army, air force, air defense forces, a group of ships of the Black Sea and Caspian flotillas, and more than 6,000 soldiers are participating in these exercises. Military formations and units will have to train to work in Tactical groups framework.
He pointed out that the aim of the exercises was to assess the ability of the leaders of formations and battalions to organize joint work.
