Starnberg – What all needs to be organized when suddenly the father, mother, wife or husband needs care?

What is the first thing to think about, where do I get help?

In the past, this situation was a big problem, especially for older people in an emotional state of emergency.

Since the beginning of January there has been a central point of contact for all the many questions and needs relating to the care and support of relatives: the care base of the district of Starnberg.

Many, mostly older people, need help after a hospital stay, for example, in order to be able to continue living in their own four walls.

But where is this help?

Who mediates this?

And who is the contact person?

Depending on the region, there have so far been very different offers - from the local neighborhood help, the town hall administration, the health insurance companies or even the district office.

So far there have only been nine care bases in Bavaria that offer advice on all topics relating to care, care, aids, applications and much more.

Since the Free State granted the municipalities the so-called right of initiative, 13 of these care bases have been set up in Upper Bavaria alone - one in the district town of Starnberg at Moosstraße 18b.

Since January 3rd, Marcus Effertz, head of the care base, has been helping there on the third floor,

who has worked in nursing for 25 years, as well as the employees Annette Schubert and Henrike Pott.

Schubert is a social insurance clerk and came to nursing advice through further training, Pott completed a dual nursing degree.

All three know from their own professional experience the different needs and requirements for care and the people caring for them.

At the presentation of the care base, District Administrator Stefan Frey reminded of the approximately 14,000 senior citizens over 80 in the district, most of whom live at home with individual help. The topic is often suppressed, "but if the situation arises and help is needed, it has to be done very quickly," emphasized Frey. The head of the social welfare office, Friedrich Büttner, is hoping for better networking of all the existing offers in the district. Starting with the 33 outpatient nursing services through to the retirement and nursing homes, which ideally regularly report their free capacities to the nursing base.

In July 2020, the district council decided to set up a care base in the district, and the contracts were signed last November.

Since January 3, the employees have already received 15 inquiries.

The costs - around 212,000 euros - for the 2.3 full-time positions are shared by the district, the district and the nursing care funds.

The circle carries a sixth, that is 35,000 euros.

Anyone who would like advice or needs help and information can contact the care base at Moosstraße 18b in Starnberg on 08151/148 77 33. In an initial conversation, the requirements at home, the social conditions and general information on the care level and the like are discussed queried.

All under one roof

Other social counseling centers are also located at Moosstraße 18b.

The third floor of the building houses the pension and debt counseling service, the specialist office for senior citizens and Maximilian Mayer, the representative for the disabled.
