Greens and SPD want to enable part-time training as a nurse.

A project from Hesse is the model.

With the initiative, the coalition wants to counteract the shortage of skilled workers.

Munich – Munich has too few nurses.

This is well known, in order to counteract the shortage, part-time training should be possible in the future.

The Greens and SPD are calling for this in a joint application.

Part-time nursing training in Munich: The model is a project from Hesse

Currently, those interested must complete the training full-time.

According to the majority of the town hall, this is particularly difficult for parents with small children, single parents or for people who have to take care of their relatives.

With part-time training to become a nursing assistant or nursing specialist, the weekly working hours are to be reduced to 50 to 70 percent.

In addition to this, the Greens and the SPD introduce themselves that the city offers childcare.

The "APH intensive" program in Wiesbaden, for example, can serve as a guide.

In the project of the state of Hesse, people with increased support needs, especially people with a migration background and refugees with good prospects of staying, are enabled to obtain a training qualification as geriatric care assistants.

There are also separate training positions in the facilities.

Four courses, each lasting 15 months, will be held during the program period.

The training has been extended by three months, but can therefore be completed part-time.

Munich's SPD city councilor Barbara Likus: "Need a lot more people"

"There is a very high part-time rate in nursing, but training is only possible full-time," says SPD city councilor Barbara Likus.

This is bad for single parents or people who also attend German courses.

“We are therefore committed to more part-time training.

We'll start with nursing because we urgently need many more well-trained people in this important profession."
