"Alfis" storm in Israel: Roads blocked in the north, bus disruptions | Israel today

Snow has already begun to pile up in the north, with the entry of the "Alfis" storm into Israel, and preparations for the peak of the storm continue.

Netivei Israel announced that 60 teams are being set up today (Wednesday) nationwide to provide a solution to the hazards expected from the stormy weather and to allow the traffic to continue.

Erez Siksik, VP of the maintenance division at Netivei Israel, stated that "in any event and need for free assistance with road rescues, the company must be notified by calling 2120 * available 24/7 all year round."

Roadblocks in the foci of snow

The Golan Regional Council announced that today and tomorrow the following roads will be blocked:

• Ramat Magshimim Junction, Road 98

Ahead of the expected snows in the Jerusalem area later in the day, the tunnel road is expected to be blocked from 16:00.

With the onset of snow, public transportation in the area will also stop.

The driving public is called upon to significantly slow down the driving speed in accordance with the road conditions which are expected to include fog and strong side winds that could shake the vehicle.

Changes in the movement of public transport lines

Due to the stormy weather, the Ministry of Transportation ordered preparations for changes and a cessation of service on various lines in the next day.

Nativ Express issued a statement regarding the expected changes in the northern region:

Zefat

• The service in the Ivikor, Ramat Razim and Ma'ale Canaan neighborhoods on municipal lines 3/4/8/10/22.

• Long-distance lines 511/522 will pass through South and Elifelet if the axis is not free the lines will reach as far as Rosh Pina.

• All 900 lines will pass through the south of the city without the Biriya and Ivikor junction.

If the axis is not available, they will reach Rosh Pina

• Beit Gan: lines 14/15 to Karmiel and line 44 to Maalot and Nahariya

• Hurfish: Line 10 Urban and Line 50 to Nahariya and 347 to Karmiel

• Fasuta: Line 40 to Nahariya 285 to Karmiel

The company stressed that "the events will be managed by real-time traffic controllers, in order to monitor the weather situation and the need for changes in the public transportation service."
