A violent accident occurred on Tuesday between Mauern and Hörgertshausen.

The police are now concerned with why the BMW crashed head-on into the tree.

Mauern

– The helpers were presented with a picture of horror when they arrived at the scene of the accident: on Tuesday evening, just before 8 p.m., a BMW X5 had been on the state road 2085 from Mauern towards Hörgertshausen when the car hit the front of the community border hit a tree. The completely tattered remains of the SUV give an idea of the enormous forces that must have been at work.

The seriously injured and trapped occupant was freed from the wreckage by the driver of a following car.

The fire brigades from Mauer and Hörgertshausen also arrived a little later.

The comrades started with the man's first aid, then the crew of an ambulance and the emergency doctor took over, as Hörgertshausen's fire brigade commander Ralf Wawersig reports.

"The ambulance was there brutally fast, about two to three minutes after us." The casualty, according to the police, a 51-year-old from the Freising district, came to the hospital.

In addition to the deformed BMW, the question that occupied the emergency services remained: how such a massive frontal collision could have happened on the section of track that was actually easy to see.

"It was dark at the time of the accident, but visibility was clear and there was no ice," says Warwesig.

Fog only came up in the course of the mission.

"It's allowed to drive 70 in the area.

There used to be a lot of crashes, but since the speed limit was introduced, it hasn't been as bad.” How the car hit the tree is a mystery to him, says the commander.

In his view, the driver was relatively "lucky that he was alone in the car and that he didn't hit the tree a tick to the left".

(By the way: everything from the region is now also available in our regular Freising newsletter.)

Together with the comrades from Mauer, the volunteers illuminated the scene of the accident and diverted traffic over a wide area.

The Moosburg police dedicated themselves to a detailed accident recording and now have to determine the exact circumstances.
