A cold? conflict of interests? revolving doors? All the failures in appointing Lisa Peretz

A cold?

revolving doors?

All the failures in appointing Lisa Peretz

Peretz should not sit at home until the end of days.

But her recruitment to Globes after a number of workers in Haaretz were about to be fired, raises ethical questions about the newspaper - which only recently slammed retired judge Meltzer for not taking a cooling-off period |

And meanwhile, unrest among workers and the network

End of era: From now on, Globes has officially joined the family of controlled peoples.

For good, for bad, and if necessary also for the ugly.

See this as a revelation for the past, but also a place for the future.

Another proper disclosure: Lisa and I broke up with acquaintances

We will start with a proper disclosure (if you will, full) that also embodies a dilemma, which has actually been resolved: I worked at Globes for a short time (about a year and a half), and since I finished my work there I have struggled a lot with how and whether to criticize the newspaper.

We are all human beings, and there is always the fear that what I write will seem influenced or biased by virtue of my personal experiences or experiences (which is actually not particularly bad, as well as a way of leaving that was dignified and without jarring tones).

Well, the dilemma was actually solved by the calendar, which revealed that exactly one month has passed since then - a time more or less double that I set for myself as a cooling off period.

The thought behind the allowance (which concerned only me) was simple: to make sure that a long enough period had passed both for me to have a perspective - and also to prevent even for a moment the appearance of problems.

But as mentioned, an era is over: now Globes has officially joined the family of controlled peoples.

For good, for bad, and if necessary also for the ugly.

See this as a revelation for the past, but also a place for the future.

Another due diligence: Lisa and I broke up with acquaintances.

It should also be noted that the things were written after quite a few conversations with journalists in Globes, everyone is afraid at this stage to express a public opinion for the reference.

Other non-newspaper journalists actually expressed their anger clearly.

After leaving Haaretz following an investigation into abuse - Lisa Peretz arrives at Globes

There is no cooling off on abuse?

How do you get a person who has abused another job - the same - after less than half a year.

Sources in Globes mention that only a few days ago in the exact same Globes we lamented that the President of the Press Council, retired Judge Hanan Meltzer, who was appointed chairman of Migdal, did not cool down.

It is not certain that Lisa Peretz, who was recruited to Globes after a long line of workers testified that she abused them and that she demanded an even longer line from the Haaretz management to Petra - should stay at home until the end of days. Everyone deserves forgiveness, and so does the workplace. But it is difficult to ignore the ethical questions that journalists raise from the newspaper, which often also deals with ethical issues or in the field of labor relations.

Recall: The Israel Time study published about six months ago revealed about twenty testimonies of people who worked under Peretz's editing in a gallery supplement over the past 13 years - indicating a toxic, contemptuous work environment, verbal violence, disregard, withholding payment and abuse, especially in subordinate women her. "I felt like she's trying to crush me like a little cockroach," "She ran over me every day, every once in a while," "You feel like you're being gelled," "I treat her like a trauma," were just some of the quotes in the interrogation. Peretz, by the way, never denied the things, apologized and said: "I understand the injury and express remorse and sorrow for her. I apologize to every employee I have harmed."

But the first question that arises from Globes editor Naama Sikoler's statement about Peretz's joining the newspaper has to do with the essence: how do you get a person who has been abused in another job - the same - after less than half a year.

Sources in Globes mention that only a few days ago in the exact same Globes we lamented that the President of the Press Council, retired Judge Hanan Meltzer, was appointed chairman of Migdal - did not cool down. Sources mention that the newspaper's editor In a special column, or as she told Walla!

Precedent waiter.

Another journalist told Walla!

Brenze that "this is a complete systems madness. Most of the workers here are already new and therefore will not say anything about it, but this is a complete erasure of everything that is allowed and forbidden to do. I do not remember such contempt."

Another employee noted that the weak workers 'committee will probably do nothing about it, but intends to contact the journalists' organization to investigate the matter.

Two more employees also told Walla!

Brenze things in a similar spirit.

One of them, who had worked with Peretz in the past, even expressed personal concern for revenge.

"It's amazing that on such a sensitive issue of appointing an employee with such a problematic background, no one even thinks of talking to us before," he said.

Public trust in the media

The employees also mention the Globes code of ethics, which talks quite a bit about transparency in the decision-making processes, and wonder whether the Globes board was involved in the decision to recruit Peretz

Hence the ethical issues. A few months ago, Eldad Yaniv claimed that he was offered to write in Globes for the "Public Trust in the Judiciary" supplement - an offer he personally received from the publisher of the economic newspaper Alona Bar-On. In a

sweeping

and distinct way, she does not interfere in the work of the system.

Making the decisions, and wondering if the Globes board was involved in the decision to recruit Peretz.

And the last question concerns trust.

Much has been written, even on the pages of Globes, about the amorphous concept of "public trust in the media."

Two months ago, Bar-On responded to the Walla!

Brenze on the subject of Peretz's recruitment because "this is blood."

It is possible that at that time the appointment was still in its infancy, but does a sweeping denial of truth in the making add to that trust?

The following question was addressed to Globes Publisher:

1) How do you get an employee who abused another job - the same - after less than six months

?

If so, how does it happen that a good company enters to work in it

3) The Globes Code of Ethics states that the decision-making processes will be transparent - whether the Globes board was a party to the decision

before its response was received.
