Christian Winklmeier has been in office as managing director of the adult education center for four months.

In this short time he has set the course for the next semester.

Fürstenfeldbruck - The trend is towards hybrid and online events as well as cooperation with the environmental advisory board and the community foundation - but also with other adult education centres.

"We've changed quite a lot in four months," says Winklmeier, looking back.

A major innovation is that the integration courses can be held as hybrid events since autumn.

The course rooms were equipped with a laptop, beamer, camera and microphone.

Participants could start the course from home and switch to attendance after the vaccination or the booster, or they do not have to take a forced break during vacation or quarantine.

"It works well because the teachers are adaptable and patient," reports the VHS manager.

In order to offer lecturers and participants the opportunity for immunization, the VHS has set up two booster vaccination days.

According to Winklmeier, around 500 people – including many course participants – accepted the offer.

A third vaccination day is planned for this Friday.

vaccination day

The Gretl-Bauer adult education center is organizing a third vaccination day on Friday, January 28, from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. in the office at Niederbronnerweg 5. Since the doctor has the vaccines from Biontech and Moderna with him this time, everyone over the age of twelve can have their second vaccination or the get boosters. People who were first vaccinated with the Johnson & Johnson vaccine and then with an mRNA substance can also be boosted. Registration is not required. Should the rush be large, a waiting ticket system will be used to shorten the waiting time. imu

After three semesters, another program booklet was printed.

A purely digital application is not enough, says Winklmeier.

With 4000 copies, the circulation is significantly smaller and the magazine is no longer distributed to all households.

Instead, from Friday, January 28th, it will be available in displays at the adult education center on Niederbronnerweg, at the train stations in Bruck and Buchenau, in the main street in front of the Boneberger butcher's shop and in front of the Scala cinema on Geschwister-Scholl-Platz.

Winklmeier emphasizes that it can also be sent on request.

Environmental and climate protection

In addition to the proven courses in the areas of health, integration and language, the adult education center has a new focus on environmental and climate protection.

Several courses are offered in cooperation with the environmental advisory board and the community foundation for the district of Fürstenfeldbruck.

The initiative comes from Georg Tscharke, chairman of the support association for the adult education center and the environmental advisory board.

Thanks to support from the community foundation, the courses are free of charge.

"We want to expand this further in the coming semesters," announces Winklmeier.

More cooperation

He also wants to expand cooperation with two other adult education centers in the district.

"We want to advance topics much more together and a joint program would also be desirable." He also relies on digitization.

The rooms are to be gradually upgraded.

The range of online courses is to be expanded in the fall semester.

A course instructor portal has gone online, where lecturers can sign their contracts digitally and keep attendance lists – this saves paper and postage.

And with it also costs for the already tight budget of the adult education center.

For this reason, he wants to tap into funding programs from the Association of Adult Education Centers, for example for political education and environmental education.

Winklmeier expects a considerable deficit for this financial year.

The city will probably support the VHS with a higher budget.

But once the process of change is complete after this year, he hopes to finish in the black.

In order to attract more participants, there will be a separate holiday program for the first time during the semester break from July to September.
