CHRONICLE - In his new essay, the American thinker Yascha Mounk realistically questions the potential consequences of the migratory and demographic upheaval at work.

An American scholar from the East Coast, Yascha Mounk is one of the too rare progressive intellectuals not to deny or relativize certain realities.

“Monocultural and monoethnic democracies are gradually disappearing

,” writes Yascha Mounk before adding:

“The transformation of our democracies into multiethnic societies will be the fundamental challenge of the 21st century.”
