An inmate was found this morning (Wednesday) in the Nitzan Lifetime Detention Center.
The IPS began investigating the incident.
According to the IPS announcement, the prisoner was found by the ward warden, lying on the floor without a pulse and unconscious.
The same prisoner, a 63-year-old East Jerusalem resident, divorced and a father of six, was sentenced in 2017 to 18 years in prison for murder after being involved in a stabbing attack in Jerusalem.
After it was determined that he was mentally disturbed, the prisoner received at trial a reduced sentence under the new law.
The IPS said that a notice had been given to the prisoner's family and added: "As with any incident of this kind, the circumstances will be investigated."
