The Munich Kindl Annemarie Huber had found his second home in Walpertskirchen.

The master butcher's wife has now passed away at the age of 86.

Walpertskirchen

– After a fulfilling, colorful and busy life, the Walpertskirchen master butcher's wife Annemarie Huber embarked on her final journey at the age of 86.

Born in Munich, whose parents ran a butcher's shop there, she moved to the country for love.

Because at the Munich Metzgerball, the young woman fell in love with her Sepp from Walpertskirchen, a master butcher of all things.

"Granny never wanted to marry a butcher," says granddaughter Vroni with a smile.

In 1958 the wedding bells rang in St. Erhard when Annemarie and Sepp Huber said yes.

Life in the village was new territory for the emancipated townswoman and often challenging.

For example, when the newcomer insisted on having her own bathroom in the house, some long-time residents saw it as a completely unnecessary luxury and commented accordingly.

This also applied to women's gymnastics, which had its home for a while in the Huber family's attic with gymnastics mats they had procured themselves.

The fact that the wife was involved in the financial transactions as a partner and that her husband pushed the pram through the village as a young father was admired at the time as extremely unusual.

"My parents had an equal marriage and were also very progressive when it came to building up the business and modernizing the butcher's shop with slaughtering," reports son and master butcher Christian, who has been running the grocery store business with his wife Roswitha for many years in the next generation.

Over the course of time, the company and the adjoining house have been repeatedly rebuilt and renewed.

A turbulent extended family was and is at home in the private rooms, and they get along very well.

Over the years, Walpertskirchen has become the second home for the Munich Kindl.

Annemarie and Sepp Huber raised four sons and were proud grandparents of twelve grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. When Annemarie Huber became a widow in 2008, her family supported her and accompanied her through the time of mourning. Customers knew the senior boss as a humorous and energetic woman who was also married to the business. Until she was 80, Annemarie Huber stood behind the meat and sausage counter to serve customers professionally and cordially.

She completed her high school diploma at the girls' boarding school in Riedenburg. She took part in the annual meetings there into old age in order to see her former classmates again. As a passionate swimmer, Annemarie Huber also regularly went to the Hohenlinden swimming pool for many years with a group of local women, the so-called bathing ladies. The family also has its own swimming pool in the garden. The parents bought it when they were young so that they could do something together with their four sons in their limited free time, son Christian remembers.

The Hubers maintained an open house, where the children's circle of friends were always welcome - this family tradition will be continued.

Despite all the work, it was very important to Annemarie Huber to think outside the box.

She loved the cultural events in Walpertskirchen and going to the theater in Munich, often accompanied by her daughter-in-law Roswitha, as well as traveling throughout Europe.

Annemarie Huber also did some of this with her brother Alois.

Since son Stefan lives in Canada with his family, this was also an important travel destination.

When life became difficult for the elderly businesswoman and she was struggling with health problems, she was lovingly cared for by the family with the support of the local neighborhood help and Ilona from the nursing service.

Recently, the old lady passed away peacefully at home.
