The uses of biogas production technology contribute to providing environmental and economic benefits, as the resulting gas can be used to give thermal energy and generate electric power, and the resulting organic fertilizer is much better than chemical fertilizers and is characterized by high quality, in addition to achieving an additional profit value for the farmer through investing the resulting gas and fertilizer and securing household needs.
From this point of view, the ACSAD plant in the city of Izraa in Daraa Governorate, affiliated with the Arab Center for Studies of Arid Zones and Arid Lands, applies the biogas production technology in a scientific and studied manner, by owning large pens specialized in breeding and multiplying livestock including Awassi sheep, Shami goats, chickens, cows, and others.
Tawfiq Khweis, an expert in renewable energies at the Izra plant, said in a statement to SANA Economic that the project to treat animal and plant waste to produce biogas has been implemented for years in the Izra plant of the center, indicating that the treatment is carried out in an anaerobic manner within a specific design and a balanced introduction to produce organic matter used in composting operations. Agricultural and biogas for cooking, electricity generation and others.
Khweis said that the breeder and farmer can treat animal and plant waste in a simple and inexpensive way and produce gas, thus securing his needs for gas and fertilizer away from purchase, especially in light of the electrical rationing programs and the high cost of fertilizer in the market, as well as the disposal of waste in a scientific and effective manner that reflects positively on the environment.
Specialists believe that supporting biogas production technology is a necessity in the current reality because of its positive repercussions on agricultural operations and environmental protection, as well as saving electric energy consumption and gas for domestic uses.
