And again, a dead sheep was dumped illegally in a parking lot.

The corpses, which have been regularly found in Andechs for years, annoy the mayor.

Now he's going public.

Andechs – It's a puzzle that has occupied Andechs for eight years now.

With frightening regularity, individual dead sheep are found in the municipal area, which were obviously laid down by unknown persons.

Georg Scheitz can remember "four or five cases" alone during his tenure as mayor - and he has only been there since May 2020.

And now it has happened again, a passer-by reported another dead animal to Scheitz on Tuesday morning.

The sheep was lying in the parking lot at the Friedenskapelle, coming from Starnberg on the right just before Erling.

The carcass was probably placed there last night, the Andechs municipal administration suspects.

He still looks fresh, there was no hoarfrost to be seen on his body.

The fact that the carcass was eaten by other animals, on the other hand, is.

It wasn't the first dead sheep in the parking lot on the outskirts of town.

Mayor Scheitz said it was "the bird nausghaud" when he found out about it.

"It annoys me. As a farmer, I find it frightening how you can treat animals like this," he says.

From the way to the public, Scheitz hopes that in the future there will be more sensitivity to the Andechs mystery - and hints: "Maybe someone saw a suspicious car driving away."

Carcass disposal actually only costs a few euros

The community informed the police. However, the officials have not gained any real insights in recent years. Even Scheitz can make neither assumptions nor give clues. Hartwig Görtler, chairman of the district hunters' association, yes. He too has noticed that sheep carcasses are repeatedly found in Andechs. He guards against false claims. However, he emphasizes that "the many free-roaming dogs" are now a major problem in the tourist resorts in the district. "Why shouldn't a dog that grabs a deer or a rabbit also grab a sheep?" asks Görtler. Just a theory. In recent years, the assumption has also been circulating that cattle transporters like to get rid of certain animals in the Andechs area.

From Mayor Scheitz' point of view, disposing of dead animals in this way is reprehensible, and not just for moral reasons.

It is also inexplicable: "It's not worth it from an economic point of view," he says.

Because a so-called carcass disposal costs only a few euros.
