The Moosburg Women's Union has achieved partial success with its proposals to build a cycle path on Westerbergstrasse and a crossing aid for pedestrians at the intersection with Münchener Strasse.

Moosburg

– Things are looking bad for the desired double-sided bicycle protection strips along Westerbergstrasse in Moosburg.

As Mayor Josef Dollinger made clear in the building committee, there is not enough space.

"It's not legally possible.

We would need a lane width of seven meters, but we only have six," Dollinger regretted, referring to a statement from the police.

Worse still, according to the documents, a bicycle protection strip is "not necessary" in the area from the point of view of the traffic authority.

(By the way: everything from the region is now also available in our regular Freising newsletter.)

However, the committee saw things differently. Building authority manager Herbert Held suggested a one-way cycle path out of town. Dollinger specified: "70 meters after the crossing to the stadium." A solution that proponents of a cycle path on both sides, such as Karin Linz (CSU) or Michael Stanglmaier (Greens), grudgingly accepted. "If the width is not there, then I would at least advocate a cycle path," said Linz. Stanglmaier explained: "We should definitely try the one-sided approach." But he didn't want to give up the idea of a second path entirely. He called for "reliable data" and qualified his statement to the effect that one could start with one. However, as suggested by Dollinger, the proposed resolution was clearly in the direction of one-sided bicycle protection strips. The result was clear with 10:1 votes.

Provisional is "botch"

During the debate about a crossing aid at the intersection of Münchener Strasse and Westerbergstrasse, there was harsh criticism of the existing provisional solution.

Linz spoke of "botch" and of suddenly standing in front of a barrier and not really knowing what to do anymore.

Verena Kuch (Greens) took the same line.

For parents with children or older people, the current solution is "not ok".

The curb is too high at 15 centimeters.

At least one ramp is required, she demanded.

The administration said that five meters further there was a drop.

Dollinger defended the provisional.

It is quite reasonable to go five meters further.

But he promised: "We'll look at it again."

Involve traffic planning office

However, everyone agreed that a crossing aid was needed at this point.

In its application, the women's union referred to the problem of going to school in the area and to the fact that children and older people would otherwise have hardly any opportunity to cross the road properly.

In order to ensure that no mistakes were made during final implementation, Stanglmaier suggested consulting a traffic planning office.

The unanimously adopted resolution proposal said: "The administration is commissioned to plan an optimal solution for the crossing traffic as part of the final conversion of the intersection."
