Denmark reacts fairly quickly in Corona times.

The country is often one step further.

Now all corona measures are to be abolished.

Copenhagen - The omicron wave hit Denmark particularly quickly.

However, the neighboring country quickly shut everything down again.

That was way before Christmas.

At that time, there was extensive discussion in Germany about whether and when the fifth corona wave would occur.

Omikron already had Denmark firmly under control.

Omikorn wave: Denmark wants to abolish all corona measures

Now Denmark apparently plans to abolish practically all restrictions.

This is reported by the Danish daily

Jyllands-Posten

and refers to an insider report by the expert commission.

The number of infections in the country is extremely high.

Between 40,000 and 50,000 new corona cases are reported every day.

46,590 corona cases were recorded on Wednesday alone, according to the Danish health authorities (January 26, 2022) Denmark is considered one of the corona hotspots in Europe.

The 7-day incidence is currently well over 4,000.

Omicron BA.2: Subvariant found in Denmark

In addition, Denmark has spread the Omikron subvariant Omikron BA.2. There is also an increase in Omicron BA.2 cases in other countries such as Great Britain, Norway and Sweden, "but apparently not at the same level as in Denmark," reports the Staten Serum Institut (SSI) in Copenhagen.

Three subvariants of omicron have been described so far: BA.1, BA.2 and BA.3.

According to the Danish Staten Serum Institut, the omicron subtype BA.1 became noticeable in January.

The proportion of Omikron BA.2 in the cases of infection had apparently increased significantly.

From 20 percent around the turn of the year, the proportion of the sub-variant BA.2 has risen to around 45 percent in the second calendar week.

At the same time, Omikron BA.1 has declined, the SSI recently announced.

A lot about Omikron BA.2 is still unclear.

Experts currently see no threatening indications.

Viruses change.

There were 200 different subtypes of the Delta variant (e.g. AY.3) until it was superseded by Omicron.

Despite this situation, Denmark apparently wants to loosen up and quite quickly.

Because despite the high number of infections, the number of Covid patients in the hospitals has been quite stable since January.

The course of infection is not reflected in hospital admissions to the same extent as before.

Corona in Denmark: Covid-19 no longer a socially critical disease

In its current report, the Danish Epidemic Commission even sees a decoupling of daily cases and the number of new admissions, is at

.

The Commission therefore recommends lifting all restrictions from January 31 and no longer classifying Covid-19 as a socially critical disease from February 5.

The obligation to wear masks indoors and 3G rules for events should therefore expire on January 31.

However, a few measures should remain: For example, the obligation to test and isolate when entering Denmark and the corona passports in geriatric care should be adhered to.

Checks with the Corona passport are also popular at events when many people meet.

The experts assume that the peak of corona infections in Denmark will be reached at the end of January or beginning of February 2022.

Though it's probably getting harder and harder to find humans to infect omicron.

The immunity in the population is significant both in scope and quality, the commission notes.

In Denmark, the vaccination rate is over 80 percent, and over 60 percent have already been boosted.

Meanwhile, Germany is reporting record numbers of new corona infections.
