A schoolgirl was seriously injured by a flash fire during a chemistry experiment in Essen on Wednesday.
The 11-year-old was taken to a special clinic.
Essen – There was a serious accident during a chemistry experiment in a school in Essen on Wednesday.
An eleven-year-old student was seriously injured by a jet of flame.
Her clothes even caught fire, reports 24RHEIN.

The accident happened in a chemistry room at the Marienschule in Essen-Steele.
The fire department was called around 11:30 a.m.
"On site, an experiment in the chemistry room led to a flash of flame, causing the clothing of an 11-year-old girl to burst into flames," reports a spokesman for the fire brigade.
The flames were smothered with a fire blanket before firefighters arrived.
The girl was seriously injured in the accident.
Around 20 percent of their body surface was burned, says the spokesman for the fire brigade.
The 11-year-old was treated on site by the emergency services and the emergency doctor.
She was then taken to a special clinic in Bochum.

In addition to the girl, three other students were in the chemistry room at the time of the accident.
They were unharmed.
The circumstances of the accident are still unclear.
The police has started investigation.
