It took a long time for the judiciary to find a key witness in the Freising attempted murder trial.

Now he should have testified.

Freising/Landshut

– The process of breaking into a property in the Freising district is becoming more and more stagnant: After the penultimate day of the hearing lasted only ten minutes due to the illness of a defender, the parties involved managed just under an hour on Monday before the youth chamber of the Landshut district court.

The Romanian witness, who is accused of being an accomplice by one of the accused and whom the police were only able to locate after a long search at the beginning of the month, was "scrutinized".

The 20-year-old was not spoken to: due to a misunderstanding, the interpreter had been unloaded for the morning.

As has been reported several times, the prosecutor, represented by public prosecutor Clemens Albert, charges a pair of brothers from Romania with attempted murder, dangerous bodily harm, aggravated robbery and burglary.

They are said to have broken into the property shortly before midnight on February 10, 2020.

When the perpetrators searched the bedroom for valuables, the master of the house woke up and was hit on the head with a heavy object.

The 51-year-old suffered an open traumatic brain injury and a fractured skull.

By the way: Everything from the region is now also available in our regular Freising newsletter.

The 18-year-old accused, who had worked on the farm for a short time, admitted to the burglary at the beginning of the trial.

But an acquaintance carried out the blow.

His 22-year-old brother was not there.

He had himself stated that he had only acted as a driver.

As was seen in court, this acquaintance has approximately the stature of the accused, who had been named as the perpetrators by the injured party.

Further determinations could not be made.

The man is currently in the JVA Stuttgart.

The neighboring country initially refused to send the prisoner bus

Judge Andreas Wiedemann said on Monday: "Baden-Württemberg is not very cooperative there." What was meant was the transport of prisoners by bus from one detention center to another.

On Friday, the chamber from the neighboring federal state received a rejection for Monday: there were not enough prisoners together.

At the beginning of the trial, the JVA Stuttgart brought the witness, contrary to expectations.

An interpreter for Romanian made his way from Munich "on call" immediately, but after some discussions the defense's request to postpone the questioning of the 20-year-old to February 14 was granted.

Although prosecutor Albert pointed out that "after Lauterbach" the omicron wave would reach its peak on the 14th, the rest of those involved in the proceedings were optimistic: the hearing of evidence would be closed after almost a year of proceedings.

The pleadings are scheduled to take place on February 24.
