The German economy is expected to grow by 3.6% this year, less than the forecasts presented in the fall, due to the persistence of the health crisis and supply difficulties in the industry.

The inflation rate is expected at 3.3% and unemployment at 5.1%, down 0.6 points.

But in truth, the GDP figures are of little interest to the new (ecological) Minister of Economy and Climate, Robert Habeck.

During the presentation on Wednesday of his annual report on the country's economic outlook for 2022, the environmental leader, vice-chancellor, also philosopher and writer, spent more time expounding on capitalism than dissecting the indicators of growth.
