It's only an interim solution - and it's expensive.

The municipal council agreed to a provisional solution for the third elementary school in Neufahrn.

Neufahrn

– "It's urgent," assured Neufahrn's head of building, Michael Schöfer. Because at the beginning of the 2022/2023 school year, the capacities for primary school children in Neufahrn have to be increased. And because the construction of a third primary school cannot be done so quickly, the municipal council should decide on a container solution on Monday. The municipal councils followed the appeal, voted in favor of this interim solution, which cost 1.5 million euros, and at the same time sealed the demolition of the old hall.

In October 2021, the municipal council decided to build such a temporary container on the site of the (still) existing old hall on Fürholzer Weg.

The administration then planned and presented the result to the committee: five classrooms, two group rooms, a specialist room and a room for the remedial teacher are to be accommodated in the two-storey facility.

Because you are under time pressure, a tender has already been drawn up and sent out, Schöfer reported.

This was necessary because the delivery times for containers can be long.

At the same time, the tender for the demolition of the old hall was also issued.

(By the way: everything from the region is now also available in our regular Freising newsletter.)

School referee Thomas Seidenberger (FW) also emphasized that this "provisional" was necessary.

Seidenberger welcomed the fact that a gabled roof and façade cladding were planned for the container facility in order to give the building an attractive appearance.

At the same time, he urged that the construction of the third primary school should continue to be expedited - if only because the location of the containers is actually needed for a new building that should be a cultural and social center for Neufahrn.

When asked whether an air conditioning system was planned, Schöfer answered no.

He is also not sure whether this is technically possible, according to the head of the building authority.

Julia Mokry (Greens) described the container system in the form presented as a "visually beautiful additional solution" and at the same time promised that work would be carried out quickly on the realization of the third primary school. Burghard Rübenthal (CSU) looked ahead and asked to think about what to do with the containers when they were no longer needed as a temporary solution for the elementary school.

The municipal council approved the planning and decided to build the container system. Of course, there was one dissenting voice: Christa Kürzinger (CSU) had to get rid of her "displeasure with the project". It had been known for a long time that a third primary school was needed, after all the children who will be going to school from September 2022 will be six years old. "We could have worked more foresightedly," said Kürzinger's criticism. And she also wonders whether all other options for expanding capacity have really been thought through. Wouldn't it have been possible to build over the school's underground car park on Fürholzer Weg so that the location of the current old hall would not have to be occupied by containers? She thinks it's a shame that 1.5 million euros are now being spent on a temporary solution - even if it's admittedly "a fancy part".
