The General Foundation for Feed has increased the amount of feed rationed for cow breeders during the new feed cycle in all branches, starting from 16-1-2022, by 100 kilograms, to become 150 kilograms of ready-made milk per head.
Engineer Abdul Karim Shabat, Director General of the Foundation, stated in a statement to SANA Economic Bulletin that the focus is on completing the work of modernizing and rehabilitating all feed factories in the governorates of Damascus, Homs, Aleppo, Hama and Tartous, with the aim of increasing their production capacity of feed manufactured with high quality specifications and at competitive prices that contribute to securing a large percentage of livestock. The needs of livestock herds, noting that 58 thousand tons of processed fodder were produced during the last year.
He said: The production process will witness a significant growth after the completion of the rehabilitation and repair works of the Tel Balat Feed Factory due to the damage it sustained and acts of sabotage due to terrorism, to produce about 200 tons of various types of fodder for livestock in all its sectors of cows, sheep and poultry daily, as more than 6000 tons have been produced since Production started, indicating that the rehabilitation work was carried out with national expertise to secure fodder for livestock in the governorates, which is positively reflected in reducing production costs for the poultry sector and lowering prices.
For his part, Eng. Mohamed Hussein, Director of Tartous Feed, revealed that the production of the Tartous Fodder Factory exceeded during the past year more than 18 thousand tons, with an implementation rate of 100 percent, and an increase of about 6 thousand tons over the previous year, which contributed to securing additional quantities of rationed feed manufactured for livestock breeders of quality. Good, guaranteed and competitive prices.
Hussain explained that work is underway to increase and improve production by performing the necessary maintenance for machines and increasing working hours. .
In turn, Hikmat Al-Azab, head of the Animal Wealth Office in the Farmers Union, stressed the importance of partnering with the General Foundation for Feed to secure the largest amount of feed livestock herds need, whether by importing them directly from abroad or securing them locally by increasing the amount of production of feed factories, which contributes to reducing import costs and prices on Breeders, stressing the need to complete the livestock statistics project on the ground, with the aim of delivering the subsidized feed ration to those who deserve it and increasing the quantities distributed.
Al-Azab called for the establishment of educational, awareness-raising and development sessions for all the new boards of directors of agricultural associations, with the aim of establishing small forage production projects that achieve self-sufficiency and reduce costs, in addition to encouraging breeders to use green fodder alternatives.
