Landsberg – The call center scam almost worked again: a woman from Landsberg was about to give telephone scammers a five-digit cash amount.
Yesterday, Tuesday, a 58-year-old woman from Landsberg received a call from two alleged police officers.
They called from a Munich landline number and pretended to be officers from the "K4" department, according to the police headquarters in Upper Bavaria North. Ultimately, they were able to persuade the woman to withdraw a low five-digit amount from her current account.
But even before the planned handover of money in a supermarket parking lot, the woman had doubts.
She went to the nearest police station, where it turned out that the scammers had used a "spoofed" phone number with a false caller ID that did not allow any conclusions to be drawn about their identities.
The Kripo Fürstenfeldbruck has taken over the investigation.
