The Minister of Internal Trade and Consumer Protection, Dr. Amr Salem, stressed the importance of developing the work of the Souq al-Hal wholesale center of the Damascus branch of Syria for trade and its role in securing vegetables and fruits and borrowing them directly from farmers at a price that suits them and providing them to the citizen at cost prices without mediation rings.
Minister Salem, during his tour today in the Souq al-Hal wholesale center, was briefed on the reality of work in it after its development and horizontal expansion, as it included 14 slots in Souq al-Hal and the rehabilitation of stores equipped to sell vegetables and the creation of a sorting center and electronic weighing. Minister Salem’s tour also included the central warehouse in Al-Zablatani, where he was briefed on the work of packing and packaging the subsidized “sugar and rice” materials and the mechanism of work in it, starting from packing until they reach the sales centers and present them to the citizen, stressing the quality of packaging, weight and attention to materials during transportation and sale so as not to be damaged.
Minister Salem instructed the need to intervene in the market through regulated, direct and wholesale sugar.
