A flight from New Zealand to Guangzhou reportedly had to make an emergency landing at Hong Kong Airport after it was reported that the windshield was suspected to have burst and cracks appeared.

At about 3:38 a.m. local time today (27th), the fire department received a notice from the air traffic control tower that a passenger plane had to make an emergency landing at Hong Kong International Airport, and the airport fire department and ambulance were immediately dispatched.

At 3:47 a.m., the aircraft landed on runway 07R of Hong Kong International Airport and safely entered the apron. It was confirmed that no one was injured, and the fire and ambulance began to disarm and return to the station.

It is understood that the flight involved was Air New Zealand NZ1082, which departed from Christchurch International Airport in New Zealand's South Island at 4:30 p.m. Hong Kong time yesterday (26th) to New Baiyun International Airport in Guangzhou, China.

Until about 3 a.m. Hong Kong time today (27th), the pilot found that the windshield of the plane was suspected to have burst and cracks appeared.

It is known that the aircraft was located in the sky south of Hong Kong at the time, in the Hong Kong flight information region.

For safety reasons, it was decided to urgently divert to the nearest Hong Kong International Airport, and the Hong Kong control tower was immediately notified by radio to arrange the diversion.

The passenger plane circled and lowered its altitude over the south of the Dankan Islands until it reached the flight path at a suitable flight altitude, and finally landed on the runway of Hong Kong Airport without any risk.

The plane involved was a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner with the registration number ZK-NZH.

The accident of cracking or even falling off the glass of the aircraft "can be big or small", and there have been several serious accidents in the past.

The latest accident can be counted to May 14, 2018, Sichuan Airlines flight 3U8633.

During the flight from Chongqing to Lhasa, the windshield on the right side of the cockpit cracked, then burst and fell off. The co-pilot was sucked out of the window and half hung outside the plane.

The final flight made an emergency diversion to Chengdu Airport under the condition of overweight, and all passengers landed safely.

Although the co-pilot was injured, he miraculously survived, and another flight attendant was injured during the descent;

In June 1990, a British Airways BA5390 flight from Birmingham to Malaga, Spain, a windshield of the cab suddenly fell off during the flight, and the captain's upper body was sucked out of the plane and lost consciousness.

The co-pilot and the crew worked together to control the plane. In the end, the plane was safely diverted to Southampton. Although the captain was injured, his life was not in danger.
