Opinion | Together, with Jewish pride, we will continue to fight anti-Semitism Israel today

2022-01-26T05:52:36.493Z

Antisemitism is antisemitism is antisemitism • No matter what form you wear and under what guise it will try to hide - we must do everything to expel the anti-Semites and instigators from outside our club

Each club has an entrance ticket that sets its members apart.

Parties, teams, sports associations and even gyms issue unique membership cards, symbols or flags to define who belongs to them and who does not.

The International Morals and Speeches Club also has an "entrance ticket".

It can be found at student gatherings at universities abroad, in various forums on social networks, at every demonstration and during every speech of an ambassador or Israeli figure. The "entrance ticket" to this club is called: Hatred of Israel.

The "moral" club's flags include a wide variety of symbols and slogans: "Boycott of Israel"; "Apartheid State"; "The IDF slaughters the children" and more. Did you raise this flag? Are you allowed to enter the moral club? Did you reject it? Will you be declared mostly dark, ignorant and fascist? The haters have dared to establish for themselves a state, one that they can maintain, that is now absorbing the charges of deep-rooted hatred that are thousands of years old. For them, Israel is to blame for all the evil in the world. "Human rights violations," "control of the world economy," and "global epidemics" are just a few of the allegations.

Tomorrow will be International Holocaust Remembrance Day, which in Israel is still known today for the fight against anti-Semitism. On this day we unite with seekers of truth and historical justice from all over the world. With a common goal, we fight together against all manifestations of anti-Semitism: modern anti-Semitism that is expressed in online incitement, or a classic that leads to the desecration of tombstones. One that promotes hatred in universities, and one that leads to shooting in synagogues. One that is promoted by politicians, and one that leads to murderous terrorist attacks, here in Israel as well. This is the day when a shout is heard from one end of the world to the other: anti-Semitism is anti-Semitism is anti-Semitism. No matter what shape she wears and under what cloak she will try to hide.

The most effective way in my eyes to fight anti-Semitism today is to combine raising one's head together, with Jewish pride, with taking the anti-Semites out of the camp. We must do everything we can to expel them from our club, imposing heavy sanctions and penalties. To this end, I am working to recruit heads of state from around the world, to officially adopt in their country the "definition of the work to combat anti-Semitism" of the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA). Through the definition, governments around the world will be able to take significant steps against manifestations of anti-Semitism. These efforts are bearing fruit, and many countries are joining the struggle. Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison recently wrote to me that he had publicly announced his intention to adopt the definition. "We must act together with determination, and reject every word and action that has manifestations of antisemitism toward individuals, communities or religious sites." If this is indeed said and done all over the world - then the anti-Semites will dwindle, until they crowd into the only place they deserve - outside the club.
