In Erlangen, organic waste and normal waste should end up in a vehicle more often.

The citizens of Erlangen separate their waste, and the micro garbage trucks throw everything back together when they are disposed of.
A scandal, as the district council finds.
Erlangen - "A huge nuisance!" On the one hand, the city demands that the different types of waste be separated, on the other hand, the contents of the different bins are tipped into the same garbage truck.
Several residents observed this in downtown Erlangen*.
The problem had existed for almost eight years, although improvements were promised.
According to Nordbayern.de
, it was particularly bad
in Kuttlerstrasse and Theaterstrasse.

Erlangen: Micro garbage trucks are said to be to blame for the misery
In the December meeting of her committee, the chairwoman of the district advisory council for the inner city, Claudia Schorcht, let off a lot of steam: It could not be conveyed to the citizens that “the city demands that they separate waste properly in order to then dispose of everything together, and apparently also that compostable and highly moisture-containing organic waste together with the residual waste for thermal recycling". The use of so-called micro garbage trucks is the decisive factor and contradicts the waste disposal statute and thus everyone who wants clean waste separation and practices it.
Claudia Schorcht is annoyed about the letter in reply to her complaint to the municipal company for urban greenery, waste management and street cleaning: "Since our garbage workers unfortunately have to identify mislitters in the form of residual waste, especially in the city center with organic waste bins, which on the one hand by residents or by operators or also come from passers-by, our employees empty these soiled organic waste bins with the residual waste, since we are not allowed to deliver such soiled organic waste to our composting plant,” the reply letter reads.
This means that “the misunderstandings have been refuted in the long term” and that the employees should be given “more confidence in their work”, it continues.
Erlangen: Quality management should fix it
The chairman of the district advisory board says: "You shouldn't treat each other like that." A unanimous motion to the Environment, Transport and Planning Committee (UVPA) should remedy the situation.
The application is intended to provide information about the reasons for the garbage disposal procedure and to ensure quality management "that in the future, in exceptional cases, improper collection, recycling and disposal of waste will not be used to solve internal problems," says
Nordbayern. en
further.
Claudia Schorcht assumes that a lack of staff or time are probably internal problems that trigger such action.
The district advisory board now hopes that waste disposal will be carried out throughout the city in accordance with the municipal waste disposal statute.
In addition, in the future not only the members of the advisory board would "keep an eye on the garbage works".
