The Syrian national football team for short stature is participating in the Arab Cup, which is held within the activities of the Fourth International Festival for People of Abilities and Determination in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt.
The teams of Syria, Iraq, Egypt, Jordan, Palestine and Sudan will participate in the tournament, in addition to Spain and Ghana.
The head of the Executive Committee of the Hama Sports Federation branch, Abdul Razzaq Zaitoun, told SANA reporter that most of the national team’s administrative and training cadres and players are from Hama governorate, so their training was carried out on the grounds of the Martyr Nasih Alwani Sports Hall daily, and we provided them with all facilities for the success of this team’s march in raising The nation's flag was high in international forums, indicating that the players' morale was high, so we expect them to have a good presence in this tournament.
And the director of the team, Fadl Al-Nayef, pointed out that this is the first foreign participation of our national team, after it was not possible to participate in the Jordan International Championship late last year due to the Corona virus, adding that this team, which was formed about a year ago, did not participate in any foreign matches or championships, so the importance of the current championship comes It is an opportunity to interact and gain experience.
In turn, the captain of the national team, Muhammad Sharroor, indicated that the players are in high technical and physical readiness to participate in the Arab championship, and they are determined to provide a good and honorable performance that befits the reputation of Syrian football, even though it is our first participation externally, adding that our ambition is not limited to this tournament, but rather goes beyond it later to participate in a championship. The next World Cup for short stature will be held in Argentina this year, and this matter is not difficult as long as the will is strong and the technical and material support is secured by the sports leadership.
The squad includes coach Firas Taftnazy, Fadi Al-Halabi, physiotherapist, Mamdouh Al-Khashan and Khaled Rahmon as administrators, and 11 players are Muhammad Sharrour Mido, Ammar Khuzam, Nidal Al-Abdullah, Abdul Rahman Al-Tarn, Abdullah Al-Taraqi, Ahmed Al-Rajab, Mahmoud Al-Hafyan, Ahmed Al-Hamidi, Abdul Hai Al-Salan, Muhammad Al-Matar and Abdullah Al-Abd.
