Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Pakistani capital, Islamabad Muhammad Shakeel Munir affirmed the desire of Pakistani businessmen to contribute to the reconstruction of Syria, noting the victories it achieved in its war against terrorism.
During his meeting today, the Chargé d'Affairs of the Syrian Embassy in Islamabad, Ambassador Mazen Obaid, pointed out the achievements that Syria has achieved in the field of combating terrorism and restoring security and safety to its territory, which opens the way for foreign investors, especially Pakistanis, to activate trade with Syria in all fields such as the technology, energy, pharmaceutical and food industries. And that is by linking businessmen of the two countries with each other and providing the necessary to facilitate joint trade.
Munir expressed his readiness to host Syrian businessmen in Islamabad to exchange ideas on ways to develop trade and economic cooperation between the two countries.
For his part, Ambassador Obeid indicated that continuing to impose unilateral coercive measures on Syria is an outright economic terrorism against its people, especially in light of the spread of the Corona virus.
Ambassador Obeid stressed the need to enhance bilateral trade between Syria and Pakistan, indicating that the relations between the two sides had begun to take a broader direction through the signing of the cultural agreement and the resumption of flights.
Obeid also highlighted the potential of the Syrian market, which is rich in agriculture and industry, and reviewed Investment Law 18, which grants facilities to investors and protects their rights.
The meeting was attended by members of the Executive Council of the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Third Secretary of the Syrian Embassy in Islamabad Nowruz Muhammad.
