Left-wing politician Sahra Wagenknecht tested positive for Corona on Wednesday morning.
The "Bild" newspaper reported about it first.
When asked, Wagenknecht confirmed her infection.
She is doing well so far, she wrote to SPIEGEL.
She received the result of the positive PCR test on Wednesday morning.
Wagenknecht is not vaccinated and has repeatedly criticized the vaccines approved in Germany.
Also on Wednesday evening she was supposed to discuss the subject of compulsory vaccination with the Green politician Katrin Göring-Eckardt at an ARD talk round with Sandra Maischberger.
With statements about vaccinations, Wagenknecht had triggered a considerable dispute on the left in the past few months.
Wagenknecht does not deny Corona, nor does she clearly express herself as an opponent of vaccination, but some of her statements are very close to those of this clientele.
In a parliamentary group meeting, she was the only member of parliament who did not vote for a resolution in which the left-wing parliamentary group spoke out clearly in favor of vaccination.
Now also Dağdelen in the criticism
Wagenknecht was absent from a joint special meeting of the parliamentary group and the party executive on Tuesday evening – as it is said, for scheduling reasons.
The two bodies wanted to speak out because there had recently been disputes that were partly related to Wagenknecht.
The party board member Maximilian Becker had advised Wagenknecht to join the AfD because of her statements about vaccination – which caused outrage in the parliamentary group.
The special session is said to have been peaceful and constructive.
Recently, Wagenknecht's ally Sevim Dağdelen had caused a dispute among the left with negative statements about compulsory vaccination on social media.
This went so far that several left-wing politicians have now blocked each other on Twitter and accuse each other of being close to the AfD and lacking in level.
