The SPD opposition leader in the North Rhine-Westphalian state parliament, Thomas Kutschaty, has accused the CDU/FDP state government of chaos in the short-term conversion of the corona test system in elementary schools.

"The test regime has literally collapsed at our primary schools," said Kuchaty on Wednesday in the state parliament in Düsseldorf.

"Children couldn't go to school, parents couldn't go to work."

Düsseldorf – The uncertainty was great on Wednesday morning.

Due to tight capacities and an increasing number of corona cases, there have been short-term changes for elementary school students in lollipop PCR tests since Wednesday.

The Ministry of Education had pointed out the new detailed test regulations in a circular email to the schools on Tuesday evening.

Kuschaty accused Minister of Education Yvonne Gebauer (FDP) and Prime Minister Hendrik Wüst (CDU) of "communication chaos".

The federal and state plans for prioritizing the PCR tests were already known on Monday.

It was already clear then that the schools would not be among the institutions with priority for the more reliable PCR tests, said the SPD parliamentary group leader.

But it was not until late Tuesday evening that the school email in question went to the schools for the future test procedure.

According to the leader of the Greens, Josefine Paul, the Wüst government lacks “clear communication and good crisis management”.

After two years of the pandemic, the state government is further than ever from bringing reliability to its crisis management.

A school email from Tuesday evening at 10:14 p.m. with effect from next Wednesday morning “tops all previous school emails that were sent on Friday evening after work,” said Paul.
