The police report that kept the investigations of

the Dina case in suspense

It is already at the table of Manuel García-Castellón, judge of the National Court.

As confirmed by legal sources, the agents have informed the magistrate that they have not been able to access the content of the phone card of Dina Bousselham, a former adviser to Pablo Iglesias who reported the theft of her mobile in 2015 and whose content was found copied at the house of commissioner José Manuel Villarejo and also ended up published in various media.

The researchers, therefore, have not been able to delve into why this device does not work after its owner recovered it after passing through the hands of the former leader of Podemos, for whom the judge came to raise his charge for a crime of computer damage.

The result of the police report clears the judicial future of Iglesias. The magistrate has kept him in the spotlight since 2020, when he unsuccessfully asked the Supreme Court to charge him. According to García-Castellón, the leader of Podemos had received the card in January 2016 from the president of Grupo Zeta, editor of the defunct magazine

, and "he kept it without telling its owner." Then, according to the judge's thesis, as a result of the content of the device being published in various media, the party leader damaged the card and devised a plan with the aim of taking advantage of the judicial investigation to invent a conspiracy and present himself as a victim. .

The Supreme rejected this theory for lack of evidence and returned the case to the judge. The magistrate himself had already pointed out that "there is no direct proof of the material destruction of the card by" Iglesias, but added that the device presents an internal "failure" that he attributes to the former vice president. Hence, he commissioned this latest report from the Police to try to find out the causes that prevent access to it.

García-Castellón was waiting for this report before making a move on Iglesias, who lost his status as a judge before the Supreme Court after leaving the Government.

This was indicated by the judge in a resolution issued last spring, when he rejected the request to charge Iglesias as he considered it "precipitated."

As detailed, there was "no new evidence other than those that were valued at the time by the high court."
