On the occasion of the half-anniversary of the largest military disaster in the history of Israel, in which 73 soldiers were killed, the ceremony was held at Kibbutz Dafna.

The annual state ceremony marking the 25th anniversary of the helicopter disaster will be held today (Wednesday) at Har Vagi High School in Kibbutz Dafna.

The helicopter disaster is the largest military disaster, in which 73 fighters were killed in a collision between two storm helicopters on their way to the outposts of southern Lebanon on the night of February 4, 1997. The annual high school seminar is attended by young officers born after the disaster.

Defense Minister Bnei Gantz and Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Aviv Kochavi will participate in the state ceremony.

25 years have passed since that night and the memories remain etched in the hearts of the families.

The harsh images of the tree on which one of the helicopters in the rest of the settlement crashed, the soldiers' belongings, and the other helicopter that crashed in the open field in Kibbutz Dafna next to the perimeter fence of the rest of the settlement.

A large monument was erected on the site, reminding visitors of the disaster.

This year's ceremony takes place in the shadow of the bat helicopter accident at the beginning of the month off the coast of Haifa, in which the late Lt. Col. Erez Shahaini and Major Chen Fogel were killed.
