(CNN) -- A 6.2-magnitude earthquake struck about 140 miles off Tonga's Pangai Island on Thursday, according to data from the US Geological Survey.
According to USGS data, the earthquake occurred at 7:40 p.m. local time, at a depth of 4.2 km.
The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center told CNN there was no danger of potentially dangerous waves in the vicinity, calling the quake "pretty small."

This comes after Tonga was hit by an undersea volcano eruption this month, likely the largest recorded anywhere on the planet in more than 30 years, according to experts.
