Bavaria's corona leader: district numbers are exploding - district office with an attempt at an explanation

In Dachau, Upper Bavaria, the number of infections is exploding.
With an incidence of over 2000, the region is the corona leader among all districts in Germany.
Dachau – The corona virus is particularly bad in Bavaria.
This is also the region with the highest incidence in Germany.
We're talking about Dachau.
On Thursday, January 27, the county passed the 2,000 mark.
The Robert Koch Institute (RK) reported a seven-day incidence of 2112.
Only the city districts of Offenbach and Berlin have even higher values across Germany.

According to the RKI, the value in Bavaria is 1159. The Free State thus occupies sixth place in Germany.
Of the federal states, Berlin is in first place with a value of 1863.

The incidence in the Dachau district has increased sharply since the beginning of the week.
"Overall, it is still a diffuse infection process," writes the district office on Tuesday, January 25, in a press release.

3839 people are currently infected with the corona virus (as of January 24).
The number of new infections has thus doubled again compared to the previous week.

But what about the situation in the Dachau hospital?
The number of corona patients in the Helios-Amper-Klinikum Dachau is still high, but still stable, according to the press release from the district office.
On Wednesday, January 26, 16 corona patients were treated in the Dachau hospital - four of them in the intensive care unit, twelve in the normal ward.

So far, 733 patients with Covid-19 have been treated and discharged in the Dachau hospital.
101 people have died from or with the corona virus.
Overall, the district of Dachau has so far recorded 182 deaths related to the corona virus.

Corona infection events in Dachau in the past week: high incidence in children
In the past week (January 17 to 23), the number of corona cases has doubled compared to the previous week.
The incidences are particularly high in children and adolescents.
For six to eleven year olds it is 3307, for 16 to 19 year olds it is 1939.
The number of infections identified as part of regular school and daycare testing is also increasing.
Currently (as of January 26th) 161 students in 122 classes in 31 schools have been hit
- 14 classes in the district are in complete quarantine.
In the day-care centers, 91 groups in 73 facilities are in isolation.

Why is the incidence in Dachau so high compared to other districts in Germany?
Are the district citizens not sufficiently immunized?
A look at the vaccination rate shows the opposite.
With 74.6 percent, the district is even ahead of Bavaria (73.1 percent) and just behind Germany (75.5 percent) when it comes to initial vaccinations.
When it comes to the rate of second vaccinations, Dachau is ahead in a nationwide and state-wide comparison.
The district is also the front runner when it comes to third-party vaccinations.
Almost seven percent more people are boosted there than in Bavaria and five percent more than in the entire Federal Republic.

In the past week, a total of around 4000 vaccinations were carried out in the district of Dachau.
Around 115,500 people received the first vaccination.
A good 114,800 people are fully protected.
More than 85,800 people have already been boosted.
So if it can't be due to the vaccinations, what is the reason that the district of Dachau has such a high rate of infection?
"We are currently assuming that we are about two to three days ahead of the development of the incidence in other districts," says the press spokeswoman for the district office Sina Török.
In previous waves, the district of Dachau had to struggle with relatively high incidences compared to the surrounding area, but then it was temporary

With regard to the high incidence, especially among children and young people, Christian Günzel once again spoke out in favor of vaccination: "I can understand that parents are hesitant to vaccinate their children - but to dismiss Omikron as a mild variant is misleading.

In the coming weeks there are still numerous vaccination appointments - both in the vaccination centers and with the mobile vaccination teams and in the vaccinating doctor's offices.
For vaccinations for children, young people and adults, the vaccination teams are on the road throughout the district.
Citizens can receive first, second and third vaccinations there and also from the resident doctors or practices.
The drive-in vaccination route in Karlsfeld is also exclusively available to the residents of the district at certain times in January.
