Next month, the Financial Secretary, Paul Chan, will announce the new year's "Financial Budget", in which whether to distribute consumer coupons next year becomes one of the focuses.
According to local media citing sources, the government has recently made preliminary contacts with major electronic payment operators through the HKMA and the Treasury Bureau to understand their interest in and preparations for the next distribution of consumer coupons.
According to sources, the authorities will retain some operators that participated in the distribution of consumer coupons last year, and plan to join new operators.
Among them, BOC Hong Kong (2388) is one of the operators actively preparing to participate in the distribution of consumer coupons, which can be used as an intermediary distribution platform through its BoC Pay mobile app.
When it first distributed consumer coupons last year, the government selected four Stored Value Facility (SVF) operators, including Octopus, Alipay Hong Kong, WeChat Pay HK and Tap & Go.
