A Japanese restaurant on the ground floor of No. 35 Staunton Street, Central, was smashed and drenched with red oil in the early morning yesterday (27th). The restaurant was then surrounded by wooden boards for maintenance.

At about 3:00 a.m. today (28th), the restaurant was found to have been hit by a car, and the enclosing board outside the door was smashed.

It is understood that at that time, the officers of the Central District Police District Special Team were conducting anti-burglary patrols nearby. When they heard the loud noise, they immediately followed the sound and went to the scene to understand. They found the Pingzhi four-wheel drive vehicle involved and parked in the restaurant on the opposite line. Outside the door, the male driver in the car found a police officer and immediately jumped out of the car and fled. After the two sides chased for dozens of meters, the male driver was arrested in uniform.

The police initially suspected that the case of hitting the door was related to the criminal damage case yesterday, and the car is believed to have entered Staunton Street from the opposite lane of Peel Street, and then crashed into the door of the restaurant at high speed.
