Attorney General Dr. Avichai Mandelblit has finally decided to close the DIP investigation file against the police officers who took part in the chase in which the late Ahuvia Godfather was killed.
The police took part in the pursuit of five hill boys in December 2020, in the area at Kochav Hashahar in Binyamin, which ended in the tragic death of the boy.
The investigation file in the DIP, as well as the investigation file of the boys in the police, who were in the vehicle that escaped from the police at the time, are both on the spokesman's desk, after they were transferred for review for a decision.
In the investigation of the boys, the ombudsman must decide whether to order the filing of an indictment against them for the offense of endangering human life in a transportation lane, after they did not respond to the police's request and did not stop the vehicle.
As you may recall, the chase that developed then, after the police suspected that the vehicle in which the boys were traveling had committed an offense of throwing stones at Palestinians, ended after the police vehicle collided with the fleeing vehicle and it overturned.
As a result, her beloved godfather died.
In this case, it appears that a decision will be made to prosecute the boys, or at least those who then drove a vehicle without a license.
As stated, in the police investigation file, it appears that the ombudsman will decide to close the case after it came up in the investigation that they acted properly when in fact they were pursuing a vehicle suspected of a nationalist event and which refused to comply with their demand to stop.
