Increasing the number of visitors from 15,000 to 21,000 - the Brass Wiesn organizers went to the Echingen council meeting with this goal.

This was approved by the board.

Eching

– The special flair of the Brass Wiesn Festival is undisputed.

That is why the municipal council was and is fundamentally positive about the idea of Sonnenrot GmbH & Co KG to allow more visitors.

Also because the organizers have presented a completely revised concept geared towards sustainability.

Sonnenrot Managing Director Alexander Wolff was convinced that the festival can also take place with more visitors under corona conditions.

He received support from security chief Daniel Schlatter.

From the current point of view, of course, that's "crystal ball watching," said Schlatter, but he assumes that the Brass Oktoberfest, which is scheduled to take place from August 4th to 7th this year, can be organized in a pandemic-friendly manner.

Compliance with the 2G plus rule on the festival site is therefore not a problem.

Green councilor called for more organic and less plastic

Irrespective of this, there were critical inquiries from the committee.

For example, in terms of the noise at the campsite, the parking situation and the culinary offer.

For example, Angelika Pflügler (Greens) called for "more organic" for half chicken or less plastic for plates or cups.

Wolff showed a willingness to compromise.

“We will have to set everything up again,” said the organizer.

As an example, he gave paper cups made from mash that would be biodegradable.

Alexander Krimmer (ÖDP) was the only one who clearly spoke out against even more visitors at the Brass Wiesn.

“We started with 8,000, then at some point it was 10,000 and 15,000. And now another 40 percent on top.

Why can't we just leave it at that?” Schlatter countered that “something had happened on the market”.

The bands would "no longer sell CDs or records" because of online services.

The fees for live performances have therefore risen sharply.

"An increase in costs that we cannot necessarily pass on," he explained.

In other words, the problem cannot be solved with ticket prices alone.

Community leader Thaler: It's about fulfilling conditions

According to Mayor Sebastian Thaler, like so many things, it is a "matter of taste".

Of course, everyone can say for themselves that it's too big.

But this is about approval by the municipality and it depends on the fulfillment of conditions.

He gave the floor to Simone Hausdorf, who is responsible for public order and security.

According to this, all authorities had the opportunity to deal with the issue.

Even if you support the plans in principle, there is still a decision-making process.

In other words: details with the police or the Red Cross would have to be discussed.

"Only then will there be a permit," said Hausdorf.

Thaler also made it clear: "We are not granting approval here today."

(By the way: everything from the region is now also available in our regular Freising newsletter.)

The proposed resolution was that the municipal council "fundamentally agrees" to the idea of holding the Brass Wiesn with a maximum of 21,000 visitors.

The necessary approval notices are a matter for the administration.

Here, “statements by the authorities consulted with regard to the security concept presented and the (...) corona protection measures should be taken into account”.

Everyone agreed except for Krimmer and Heinz Müller-Saala (FDP).
