The share of inheritance in total wealth has thus increased from 35% in 1970 to more than 60% in 2020. Enrichment through work or merit has (again) become secondary in relation to the wealth transmitted.
The liberal Jean Tirole like the socialist Thomas Piketty come together to denounce the return of the heritage.
Whether one is in favor of equal opportunities, equal opportunities or just equality, who can be satisfied with this situation?
