Against the background of high corona numbers, Berlin's Governing Mayor Franziska Giffey (SPD) has appealed to the personal responsibility of the citizens.
"Each and every individual must also take responsibility for themselves," said the SPD politician on Thursday in a government statement in the House of Representatives.
"And it's very simple," she continued.
Berlin - "Anyone who is sick stays at home.
Anyone who has a positive test informs people with whom they have had contact.
And if you really want to help, you can get vaccinated.
It's that simple.”
Giffey pointed out that because of the large number of infections in the omicron wave, there was a need to break new ground in testing and contact tracing.
In the case of the PCR tests as well as in the case of contact tracing, there must be a prioritization, i.e. a concentration on groups that are particularly at risk.

Vaccination remains an important point.
That is why the Senate will continue to provide information and especially with outreach vaccination offers.
Giffey was pleased that more than 52 percent of the population had been boosted.
She also referred to the, from her point of view, quite encouraging rate of first vaccinations for adults: According to the Robert Koch Institute, this is almost 80 percent in the age group 18 to 59 and 91.2 percent in the age group 60 plus.
The initial vaccination rate among 5 to 17 year olds is almost 40 percent.
