630 citizens took part in the hour of the winter birds in the district.

The great tit was observed most frequently during the action of the State Association for Bird Protection (LBV).

The house sparrow was the front runner throughout Bavaria.

Fürstenfeldbruck - The 630 participants counted a total of 11,426 birds in 447 gardens.

A total of 1859 specimens of the great tit were sighted.

She has regained her throne from 2020, as the LBV reports.

The Fürstenfeldbruckers counted an average of about four great tits per garden.

Last year's winner, the tree sparrow (1525), took second place.

He only visited about 47 percent of the gardens in the district.

Number three in the region is the blackbird with 1483 birds in over 90 percent of the gardens.

The blue tit remains in fifth place in the district, as it was in 2020 and 2021. Compared to the previous year, the species recorded an increase of 36 percent with an average of 2.4 specimens per garden.

Great spotted woodpeckers were also frequently observed in the region.

The cheeky bird was at the feeder in almost every second garden (47.4 percent) and ranked 11th with a total of 309 observations.

The LBV biologist Angelika Nelson comments: "The numerous reports give us a good overview of the typical bird life in a Bavarian garden in winter.

The more people take part in the counting campaign, the better our data will be.”
