Snow precipitation pervaded the various regions of As-Suwayda Governorate, with varying thicknesses of snow according to the height of each region.

Head of the Readiness Department in the General Secretariat of As-Suwayda Governorate, Hussein Safi, said in a statement to SANA reporter that the thickness of snow exceeded, on average, 50 centimeters in the Dahr al-Jabal region, and in the villages and towns of the eastern and southeastern countryside it ranged between 30 and 40 centimeters, and in the governorate center between 15 and 20 centimeters with higher thicknesses. On roadsides and in areas most affected by wind movement.

Safi explained that the mechanisms of service institutions began to open roads since the morning hours in the governorate center only and are preparing to move to open roads in the rest of the areas according to the specific axes for each of them after the snow has stopped falling.

Safi pointed out that no major damages have been reported so far, noting that the bakeries of all regions are secured with their flour needs.

In turn, the head of the Suwayda Traffic Branch, Brigadier General Jamal Al-Saeed, explained that all roads in the southern, southeastern and eastern regions of the governorate are impassable due to the accumulation of snow, pointing out that the process of opening roads began in the morning from the main roads in the city of Suwayda, in cooperation between the Traffic Branch, the city council and the mechanisms of other service institutions and will continue. To by-roads and country roads.

Al-Saeed called on drivers to be careful and not drive and move around in such circumstances.

For his part, the city director of the Suwayda City Council, Thaer Al-Saleh, pointed out that the workshops and mechanisms of the city council, in cooperation with the snowplow in the Traffic Branch, and the mechanisms of the military construction and water projects institutions, have been working since the morning to open the pivotal roads inside the city, especially leading to the ovens and the hospital, while snow removal operations continue.
